C. difficile GDH & Tox A/B Testing – TECHLAB®
Simultaneous detection of GDH and Toxins A and B
C. DIFF QUIK CHEK COMPLETE® test is a rapid membrane enzyme immunoassay for the simultaneous detection of Clostridium difficile glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) antigen and toxins A and B in a single reaction well. The test is to be used to aid in diagnosing C. difficile disease.
Product Overview
C. DIFF QUIK CHECK COMPLETE® test can simultaneously detect GDH and Toxins A and B in a single reaction well, with results in 30 minutes. It aids in indicating whether C. difficile bacteria are present and producing toxin, helping to differentiate patients with a true C. difficile infection from C. difficile carriers.
Glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) is the protein produced by all C. difficile bacteria, regardless of their toxin-producing ability. Testing for GDH is a good screening marker for C. difficile infection, but follow-up testing is necessary because we cannot tell from a GDH result alone if the strain can produce toxin, which makes patients sick. With a GDH-positive result alone, it is possible that the patient is simply a carrier.
Toxins A and B are produced by toxigenic strains of C. difficile and cause the symptoms of the infection. Toxin results more closely correlate to disease state and clinical outcomes than other testing options.
C. DIFF QUIK CHEK COMPLETE®
- Screens for the presence of C. difficile
- Detects C. difficile antigen and toxin
- Confirms the presence of toxins A and/or B
Results should be considered in conjunction with the patient history.
