The urine test strip (or dipstick) is a cost-effective method used to screen urine in select patient populations. It is used for screening, treatment monitoring, and patient self-testing in high-risk groups (for example, those at risk of urinary tract infections, chronic kidney disease or diabetes).

How the Roche Combur Urisys 1100 Analyser works

The Urisys 1100 system is a reﬂectance photometer designed to read and evaluate the urine test strips. It reads the Combur-10UX Test® strips under standardised conditions, saves the results and outputs them via its own inbuilt printer and/or serial interface.

The Urisys 1100 system is designed for In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) and should be used by qualiﬁed physicians and laboratory staff.

Urine strips provide a rapid and cost-effective means for conducting clinically useful chemical analyses of urine including specific gravity, pH, leukocytes, nitrite, protein, glucose, ketones, urobilinogen, bilirubin, blood, and microalbumin.

How to use the Roche Combur Urisys 1100 Analyser

The Roche Combur Urisys 1100 Analyser is easy to run, the user-friendly and simple menu navigation can be used with minimal training:

Step 1

Dip the test strip briefly (1 sec) in the urine sample. Draw the long edge of the strip along the rim of the specimen container to remove excess urine. Note: Do not bend the test strip!

Step 2

Touch the long edge and the back side of the strip briefly (approx. 1 second) to an absorbent paper to remove excess urine.

Step 3

Place the test strip, with the pads facing upward, on the test strip tray.

Step 4

Press the START button*. After the confirmatory beep the retaining bar will close. Make sure that the test strip is correctly positioned in the notch of the test strip tray. Note: * Operator ID has to be entered, if this function is activated.
